 Pre-game warmup.

Ladies,

A 13-3 record playing in the Roseville Spring League is something to be very proud of. Never in the history of Galt has a team played at the varsity level and done so well. Never before has a Galt team beat El Camino, or Sheldon. Remember this, it started here, with the Lady Hoop program in March. Your commitment and dedication to this program is at a level never seen before in Galt. Your Coach Jeff and myself are very proud of you and are looking forward to an excellent summer of basketball. You girls have earned the right to play at Delta because of your incredible hard work and commitment to this program.

Remember:

  • This is your team.

  • You are the ones that play.

  • It started in March with your hard work and dedication.

  • 80 games and 60 practices will make the difference next year.

  • Your coaches respect and admire your hard work.

  • You have earned the right to play.

  • Steve is very proud of you.

  • Fight the good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith.

Congratulations Judy! Good luck at Delta College. We will be cheering for you.

June 12-13

 Lodi Summer Splash Tourney

Congratulations Varsity

1st place!

team record 3-0

Saturday 1st game vs Turlock 56-18

2nd game vs Lodi 59-50

Championship game vs Davis 56-52

Congratulations ladies, you've proven to yourselves what your coaches & parents already know, you can compete and win against good teams. Wins against Turlock, an excellent Lodi team, and an "ALL STAR" Davis team proves that desire and commitment pay huge dividends. You ladies have shown an incredible commitment to your team by consistently attending practice and participating in our games. You have earned the right to play. THIS is the real deal.

Coach Jeff Delacruz deserves a special "thank you" for his dedication to this program. Jeff stepped up to take our Varsity coaching position after our terrible loss in March. It was a very trying time for all and Jeff had some huge shoes to fill with the loss of my best friend and our great coach Steve Battaglia. Jeff you have been simply awesome. Your knowledge of the game and ability to communicate with this team is amazing. As a parent with a child on this team I am honored to have you as our coach. I know you are as happy with this team of girls as I am, and look forward to the next several weeks as the girls grow and mature into the team we know they can be.

You ladies answered the question this weekend. It is a long race. We have only just begun. Let's keep fighting the good fight. Steve is very proud of you.

Your water boy,

Art

P.S.

Thanks Mark for hosting another great tournament!  You always do a terrific job. It is a real pleasure spending time with you and your family. We are lucky to have such a great group of kids to spend time with.

7th grade at Sac Area Sports
Summer Slam - 3 games

June 12th & 13th

Team record 1-2

Great job Sunday in your last game. Defense wins basketball games. You girls showed that with a little intensity and desire to play defense you can control the outcome of the game.  You earned a victory with your great defensive play and a balanced attack on offense. We are very close to becoming one of the "teams to beat". It only take a little hard work and dedication, and you WILL get there. Thanks for letting me sit on your bench today.

June 25-27

Varsity Team at Oregon City Shootout

Congratulation ladies team record 3-2

Welcome home!

Wow! Another trip to Oregon. I can't believe it has been a whole year since our last great adventure. Plenty has happened this last year, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one feeling some anxiety before our first game. I heard Steve's voice the whole time we were in Oregon and I am sure he is very proud of you girls.

It's a big deal to go to Oregon and play some of the best High School teams in the country. You Lady Hoop players did a terrific job against competition you probably couldn't have competed against previously. You worked as a team and all contributed to our success. Commitment to the Lady Hoop program, starting in March has made the difference again. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to your team. You girls should all be very proud.

Our trips are not only successful because of the commitment from our players but also because of the unbelievable support from our parents. Without your help we wouldn't have had the great meals and snacks for the girls. Without your help we wouldn't have arrived in Oregon in the first place. Without your help with "the girls", little incidents might have become problems. Our program will continue to flourish because of the great parents we have involved. I love you people.

The Quiet Mind: It Puts Your Playing into a New Gear

The ideal performance state is characterized by a "quiet mind" that results in less cortical interference with the (subcortical) motor control centers and in consistent and efficient execution on motor performance.

The Quiet Mind has 6 characteristics:

1. Absence of fear- no fear of failure

2. No thinking about or analysis of performance (related to the motor stage of automaticity)

3. A narrow focus of attention concentrated on the activity itself (e.g. catching and holding onto the football without fear that you'll get crunched a split second later.)

4. A sense of effortlessness- an involuntary experience. Your skill and conditioning preparation is so complete that now you just "let it happen"

5. A sense of personal control and confidence

6. A distortion of time and space, in which time seems to slow. You can see the baseball seams rotating, you can anticipate defender's movements, you can see several plays ahead of everyone else.

To perform well, you must be relaxed enough to allow the natural timing and coordination to flow with the movement of the game. When you are in the flow, every movement feels right. Your critical and doubting mind can be bypassed to allow yourself to perform to the fullest potential. Above all, a playful sporting attitude helps you remember that your sport is to be enjoyed.
