What if my daughter cannot attend practice?

Basketball being a team sport, practices are very important in developing that teamwork. This program is about teaching work ethic and commitment.  If a player cannot make a practice they must call Art at 209-670-5477 to let us know they will not be there. No call, no show, will have consequences, which will be situationally appropriate and determined by the coaching staff. Please check the website for practice times and dates.

Our goal through basketball is to help our members become responsible, successful adults, and we are dedicated to taking local student athletes to the next level and improving their basketball skills while encouraging personal growth and good sportsmanship. Teaching these young adults work ethic and commitment is our top priority.

How do I get a practice jersey or uniform for my daughter?
GIRLS:

Girls practice jerseys are $35.00. You can email Stephanie if you would like to purchase one. If your daughter is new to the team, she should purchase a practice jersey first. She can play at tournament in a practice jersey. If after going to a few practices or a tournament, you or she feels you want to make a commitment to the program and invest in the cost of a uniform, they are available for $120.00. New uniforms this year are 2 pair shorts, 2 jerseys and if you would like a shooting shirt with her name on it for new players is $30.00 extra. You can also email Stephanie for this, or talk with her at practice.

What kind of time commitment will joining this team bring?
Playing basketball with the Lady Hoops requires a strong commitment to the game, the club, and your teammates.  It is important that everyone involved understands that each is willing to make this commitment in order for the athlete to become the best basketball player they can be.

Participation in the Galt Lady Hoops program requires attending practices, effort, and some financial responsibilities, but we feel that it is all well worth the investment.  We are a not for profit organization that provides a unique opportunity for your sons/daughters, and feel that the training and the experiences that they will receive from competitive basketball will be very beneficial. Tournaments/leagues are scheduled and noted on the calendar for each team. We play year-round with the exception of our high school athletes who take the winter off to play for their high school team.

For those of you new to the Galt Lady Hoops, there will be a $14.00 AAU registration fee, as you must be an AAU member to play on our team. These fees can be paid at the first practice. Tournament fees will be roughly $25.00 to $35.00 for each player per tournament, for those selected for the traveling team. Our tournaments are paid for well in advance of them and in order to avoid financial shortfalls please pay this fee at the practice before you go to tournament, to Stephanie, payable to Galt Lady Hoops. Tournament Fee due dates will be posted on the website. No pay, no play.

How many games will a player participate in?

Who goes to tournament is up to the coaching staff. Our goal for Varsity through 9th grade players is to play at least 70 games in the off season, March thru October.  Younger players have a 50 game goal. Leagues usually consist of 10-15 games. We are usually able to meet this goal additionally by participating in tournaments once or twice a month

  How about playing time?

Who goes to tournament is again up to the coaching staff and playing time is also determined by our coaching staff. We would prefer not to discuss playing time with parents, we do the best we can and hope to get each individual as much playing time as coaches feel is possible during games.

What team will my daughter play on?

Sometimes when teams go to tournament, the size of a particular team or needs at certain levels will require players to be moved up. This is determined by our coaching staff. We will not discuss what team a player plays on or why with parents, and it is not up to the player to determine where he or she plays. We do the best we can and base our decisions on what is best for the team.
